Stoke City returned to the playoff places with one of the comfortable football results of the weekend in the Championship. Tyrese Campbell gave the visitors the lead in the first half while Mario Vrancic sealed the win in the second half for the visitors. The win was a welcome one after they suffered back-to-back defeats coming into the game. It was the first time that QPR failed to score with Charlie Austin missing a penalty.

Managers Reaction

QPR’s Mark Warburton: “We lacked a little bit of quality in the final third. I thought we started off okay but gave an awful goal away similar to the one against Derby. We have to be better than that. In the second half, there were moments, the penalty was an obvious one to refer to, but in the final third we lacked that final spark today.”

Stoke’s Michael O’Neill: “We had to show both sides of ourselves. In the first half, we were very good and played some very good football and got ahead. We knew on the turnover we would get chances because they are a little open at times, and the first goal was a good demonstration of that.” he added. “In the second half we knew they’d be a bit more open as they would have to take more risks, and we scored a brilliant second goal through Mario. It was a brilliant performance against arguably the in-form team in the league at this time.”
