Armando Broja scored on his first start in the Premier League to complete one of the close football results of the weekend. Southampton came into the game without a win having lost three and drawn four of their opening seven games. Leeds on the other hand had won their last game before the international break. Southampton dominated proceedings taking 12 shots in the first half. They finally broke the deadlock on the counter when Broja’s strike partner Nathan Redmond set him up.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl: “The first win is always the most important one of the season. It took a little bit longer this year, but I have to say the performance deserved three points today.”
Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa: “It was a fair result, we didn’t play well at any moment in the game. The difference was produced in the first half. The second half was more even, but the differences that were in their favor in the first half justifies their win even if they scored in the second half. Perhaps the goal was scored in the only minutes that we were perhaps playing on an even keel with them.”
