Stoke City kept up their recent favourable football results as they stayed in the play-off places of the Championship with a comfortable 2-0 win against Hull City. Mario Vrancic and Nick Powell scored for the home side to help secure their first win in three games. Although Hull dominated proceedings at the start of the match, Stoke City slowly found their groove after the first goal. Hull have been in a torrid run of form as they have been winless since the first day of the season. They have failed to register a win away from home this season

Managers Reaction

Stoke’s Michael O’Neill: “I am very pleased with the result. There were aspects of the performance that were good and aspects that we have to look at. I have to give credit to Hull, they pressed us well and we didn’t build our game as well as we have done this season. We looked lethargic at times in the first half and we needed a spark. We got that with the goal.”

Hull’s Grant McCann: “From the outside looking in, it is another defeat where we aren’t creating chances, but that is not just the front three, it is the team as a whole. We were not clinical enough, but up until their goal what we were doing was really good.” he added. “We had a chance with Tyler Smith and we hit the post. Then we made a decision to jump and press the ball and they are breaking against us and score.”
