West Brom was made to settle in one of the disappointing football results of the Championship. The 1-1 draw with Milwall helped the Baggies to the top of the table. Despite their four-match win streak coming to an end, West Brom has enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season. West Brom captain Kyle Bartley put the hosts ahead but it was Daniel Ballard who is on loan from Arsenal who equalized.
They moved to the top of the league table on account of Fulham’s surprise loss to Blackpool. The draw seemed the aptest result based on both sides’ performance despite Karlan Grant having his penalty saved by keeper Bartosz Bialkowski.
West Brom’s Valerien Ismael: “We made too many mistakes in our backline and were punished for it. We need to have another desire and another attitude to be better than this. We have to be more ruthless in our backline – that was our strength in the first five games so we need to get back to that and dominate our opponent.” he added. “We will learn from this and adjust but we need to put more energy to address that intensity. We need to learn from this and adapt, from when the opponent does not want to take any risk and wants to take the intensity out of the game.”
Millwall’s Gary Rowett: “West Brom are very good at playing pressure football against you and a lot of teams struggle to deal with it. Every game we have watched, teams have struggled to deal with that intensity. I thought we managed that really well and dealt with the game.”
