Alexandar Mitrovic continued his superb goal-scoring form as Fulham completed one of the comfortable football scores on the weekend in the Championship. Tom Cairney marks his return to football after almost a year out with a goal to heap the pressure on Cardiff manager Mick McCarthy. He came on as a substitute in the second half, scoring just 12 minutes after he was brought on. Mitrovic then scored his 13th goal to help Fulham to second place on the table. Cardiff on the other hand have now lost their last seven games and have scored just the solitary goal in that time.
Fulham’s Marco Silva: “It was really important for Tom to come back with the goal, it was really important. And he deserves it after the last few months that have been so tough. It was important for him to get back. You can imagine how he was. It is easy to understand how he celebrated the goal, his feelings at that moment. He helped the team when we needed him”
Cardiff’s Mick McCarthy: “This leaves us on the back end of a really horrible run of results. And if football is true to its usual stuff, we know what happens. I can’t do anything about that. We’ve certainly had a much better performance, and I’ll be doing exactly the same for Middlesbrough unless I’m told differently. I can’t do any more than I am doing, I can’t try any harder than I am doing.”
