Alfredo Morelos and Joe Aribo scored early in the first half to help Rangers produce one of the comfortable football scores of the weekend in the Scottish Premiership. Hearts came out of the blocks and should have scored within two minutes through Liam Boyce. It was Rangers who drew first blood when Morelos fired home before Joe Aribo stunned the home side to double their advantage. Any hope of a comeback was extinguished when Josh Ginelly received his marching orders after a stupid second yellow. Rangers increased their lead over title rivals Celtic to seven points having played one game more.
Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst: “I don’t know if it’s the same injury. We are still diagnosing the problem and once we know more, we can tell about the injury he has,” he added. “So far, he will not be available for Sunday but hopefully he will join us soon. He has been working hard. He didn’t have game time over the last months because of injury. For him personally, it’s not a good moment. For us as a club also because we don’t have Ryan Jack available for games.”
“We have to be strong on the ball in a difficult venue. They will put pressure on us – we dealt with this well in Lyon. We will also have to be defensively solid to stop Hearts’ danger in the box. A good overall performance is required to get the result on Sunday.”
