After spitting at Stefan Posch, striker Marcus Thuram of Borussia Monchengladbach will see a month’s wages donated to a worthy cause.
Marcus Thuram was fined a month’s salary by Borussia Monchengladbach after being sent off for spitting at Hoffenheim’s Stefan Posch.
The club revealed on Sunday that a month’s worth of Thuram’s salary will be donated to a good cause that the player himself would be interested in.
In a statement, Sporting Director Max Eberl said: “This morning, I had a long talk with Marcus in which he apologized to me and the club again for his behavior. For almost two years, we have known Marcus, and we know his past and his family. The acts of yesterday do not reflect that. Marcus is saddened and has told me that he did not spit at Stefan Posch deliberately. He told me that he had accidentally spat after swearing multiple times in French in the heat of the moment during a fight with Stefan Posch.”
