Gareth Bale will be returning to Real Madrid with new coach Carlo Ancelotti at the helm. Ancelotti has said that he can enjoy a great next season if the Welshman is motivated enough. Gareth Bale spent the 2020/2021 season on loan at Tottenham Hotspurs in the Premier League. He spent the majority of the season on the bench under Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese coach was then sacked towards the end of the season with Ryan Mason taking over the reins. Gareth Bale finished the season emphatically scoring a hat trick against Sheffield United followed by a brace against Leicester City.
Gareth Bale is set to enter the final year of his contract at Real Madrid and has said that he will decide where his future lies after Euro 2020. He has dismissed any reports of retirement. This will be Gareth Bale’s second stint with Carlo Ancelotti at the helm. Together, they won the Champions League and Cope del Rey in 2014. Ancelotti himself is returning to Real Madrid this season after spending 18 months at Everton.
“Gareth hasn’t played much in the Premier League, but he did score goals,” Carlo Ancelotti said about Gareth Bale. “He was effective in the final games of the season when he played consistently. He is coming back, I know him well. If he is motivated to play, he can have a great season. I have no doubt. I have a lot of love still for Gareth, Isco, Marcelo… they will have the motivation to show they can still play for Real Madrid.”
Ancelotti was sacked by Real Madrid in 2015. He went on to manage Bayern Munich and Napoli before joining Everton in the Premier League. Everton finished in 10th place in the 2020/21 season after a horrendous run in. “I’m not the same Carlo Ancelotti, I’m different, I’ve got six more years of experience, negative and positive. But negative experiences can help you grow too,” he added.
