Manchester United has progressed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the last couple of years. Their progression curve is similar to that of Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool went to the next level after the signing of Alisson and Virgil van Dijk.
“[Manchester United] has obviously had those chaotic years post-Sir Alex Ferguson with David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, and Jose Mourinho. Chaotic in terms of the handling of managers, chaotic in terms of the transfer strategy but also the signings, very reactive.” former Manchester United player Gary Neville said. “They have changed completely in the last three seasons. I think what they are looking at is probably the Sir Alex Ferguson era where the club was patient but also they will be looking at Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp was given time to build a team, progressing slowly year on year.”
“If you look at the first 99 games of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, which he has had now, and the first 99 games of Jurgen Klopp they are almost exact in terms of performance – 1.89 points per game for Jurgen Klopp and 1.86 points per game for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer,” he added. “Jurgen Klopp, fourth in points per game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer third. Jurgen Klopp with a 54 per cent win percentage, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 53 per cent. Again, neck and neck.”
