AC Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic will play Asterix in the upcoming Asterix and Obelix film, which will be released in 2022. The report that the Swede will star in ‘Asterix and Obelix: The Silk Road’ was verified when Ibrahimovic shared a photo on his Instagram page with the word ‘Antivirus,’ the name of the character he would play.
In March, the 39-year-old performed a duet with Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic at Italy’s Sanremo festival, where he expressed an interest in acting. The news that he’d been cast in the Asterix project, directed by Guillaume Canet and set to be released in 2022, caught him off guard.

Pathé has announced the cast for Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom the popular children’s franchise’s fifth live-action film.
The cast includes Guillaume Canet as Asterix. Gilles Lellouche as Obelix (the first time Gerard Depardieu would not play Obelix in the five-film French-language franchise). Vincent Cassel as Cesar, Marion Cotillard as Cleopatra, and Jonathan Cohen as Final thesis. Other cast includes Ramzy Bedia, Julie Chen, Linh-Dan Pham, Pierre Richard. Also, the soccer star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who makes his feature film debut as Oneofus, appears.
The writer of the film is Philippe Mechelen and Julien Hervé. Guillaume Canet will direct the film. Trésor Films, Pathé Films, and Les Enfants Terribles are producing the film. Matthieu Chedid, a French composer, will compose the score.
The striker is Milan’s top scorer this season, with 17 goals in all competitions. He has yet to sign a new contract. Also, his latest deal is due to expire at the end of the season.
