Iker Casillas, the former Real Madrid goalkeeper, has been admitted to the hospital with a possible heart attack.

According to several Spanish media sources, including El Mundo, the 39-year-old ex-Real Madrid goalkeeper was playing paddle tennis with some of his buddies when he felt a sudden pain in his chest.

On April 28, the World Champion footballer was rushed to the hospital, but the news is only now being published in Spain.

The retired goalkeeper also noticed that his heart was pounding much harder, according to Hello! magazine. The goalkeepr was taken to the Quironsalud Madrid University Hospital in Pozuelo de Alarcon. It is a Spanish town on the outskirts of Madrid.

According to El Mundo, he was informed on Thursday morning. It was just three days before the second anniversary of his first myocardial infarction. This occurred during a training session with FC Porto on May 1, 2019. The occurrence was not a repeat of the first. However, the source of the chest pains is still unknown.

Casillas captioned a photo he posted with his 16.8 million Instagram followers shortly after the scare. “Live now, tomorrow we will see.” It had more than 363,000 likes at the time of publication. About the fact that they divorced on March 12, 2021, Sara Carbonero posted on the photo with a heart emoji and an infinity emoji.

Iker Casillas rushed to a hospital just two years after the last scare

Just over a year after his first scare at Porto, Casillas announced his retirement from the game.

Casillas said on the documentary Catching the Wings in November about his initial ordeal.

“There is a feeling of half a second. Or, not even that when you draw a breath of air and it tastes different. I started to feel heavy and out of breath, and I began to suspect an allergy. Then, as I approached the goalkeeping coach, I found that my chest was tightening. I was running out of breath. This felt like being in a tub and immediately wanting to get out but not being able to; it was excruciating. I was becoming increasingly out of breath. ‘Please contact the doctor, Robert,’ I said. I’m drowning.”

Shortly after the incident, he returned to Porto’s pre-season training, but he did not play again for the club.
