Six years after catching them for the Europa League title in 2014, Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic is returning to Seville.
The Croatian midfielder is receiving medical care in the Catalan capital on Monday before returning to Los Rojiblancos, with an agreement reached for return between the clubs and the player.
The details are outlined by Marca, who says the central midfielder is now just ‘a step away’ from his return to the Andalusian capital, where his wife comes from — the two met when he joined the Schalke club — and where the player was keen to return.
The central midfielder has been closely linked to a summer departure from the Blaugrana as he reaches the final 12 months of his current deal, with no transfer fee confirmed but considered limited.
Since his move from Seville in the summer of 2014, the 32-year-old has clocked up 310 appearances for Barcelona and collected a plethora of trophies – including four La Liga championships, four Copa del Rey trophies, and the Champions League championship in 2015.
