Jurgen Klopp claims that Jordan Henderson is now “a role model for future Liverpool captains,” as he announced the Reds skippers will win the Premier League trophy following his season-ending injury.
He told reporters: “We are going to do everything we can to do it the right way. I don’t know what the rules are, that you can’t get the trophy lifted if you’re not in the start lineup or something else? Isn’t that one rule? Okay, so Hendo ‘s going to be there and wear the match matching and that’s going to be perfect. It was a big blessing that the injury is not as bad as at first we thought it was. He deserves to lift the award because of what he has done in the past few years. If he underwent surgery and was in the hospital the l, then it would have been difficult. And he is not. His healing starts immediately; in a few weeks he’ll be fine.”
He continued saying: “We are trying to find a way to show him the love he wants. The players just want this, by the way. We want Him to be there. He’s the only captain I had here in Liverpool, and I’m grateful that it was determined before I got there. Hendo has evolved in that role and is now possibly a role model for the next-generation skippers from Liverpool. That is amazing and being part of this creation is cool.”
