Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers insists that Leicester has the resources to challenge regularly for European places. There have been reports linking him to the vacancy at Tottenham after Jose Mourinho was sacked. Ryan Mason was named the interim manager.
These rumors have gained speed since Julian Nagelsmann joined Bayern Munich. Nagelsmann was said to be at the top of the Spurs wish list. Leicester has reached the FA Cup final this year. They are also seven points clear of West Ham in fifth place after the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has been overly impressed with how his young squad has developed over the past few years. He is optimistic about their further growth over the next few years. Spurs having recently lost the Carabao Cup final are in seventh place. As things stand they are five points behind Chelsea.
“Tottenham is a fantastic club, it’s one of the big clubs in this country, it’s a huge club. My focus is purely here.” Rodgers said when asked about the speculation. “I’m at a world-class training facility, the project we’re in here, we still want to develop, we still have a lot of work to do here. I have a great connection with the players and the board, and we have plans to keep progressing.”
Earlier, Kasper Schmeichel was all praise for Brendan Rodgers. He revealed how Brendan Rodgers has changed their identity since taking over. “Brendan’s come in and done wonders for us, I think he’s the absolute perfect manager for us at the perfect time,” he said. “He came in when we needed an identity, we needed to find our feet. Who were we after this amazing title win? We’d kind of been in-between a counter-attacking team and a possession team. We didn’t quite know exactly what we were, and he’s just given us a clear identity”
