Several clubs are tracking Ryan Bennett after Leicester has decided not to sign the defender permanently.

The Foxes had the opportunity to buy the center-back for £5million, but the PA news agency reports he is now heading back to Wolves.

Bennett initially went on loan to King Power Stadium in January, making five appearances to help the Foxes finish fifth and reach the Europa League.

But boss Brendan Rodgers will not seek a permanent deal with Wes Morgan and Christian Fuchs signing new contracts and Filip Benkovic returning from his Bristol City loan to back up Caglar Soyuncu and Jonny Evans.

Bennett is on the market now and it’s doubtful he will be playing again. To the Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo, despite having ended his Molineux contract for one year. He has been at Wolves since 2017 and has played 92 times-scoring three goals, since joining a free transfer from Norwich. He led them to the title of the 2018 championship and finished 7th in the Premier League last season, qualifying for the Europa League.

The 30-year-old is interested in the Sky Bet Championship and Premier League, He began his career at Peterborough and now with the transfer window now open and Wolves is not thought to be standing in his path.

Bennett was an unused substitute in Leicester’s 2-0 loss for Manchester United on Sunday that saw the Foxes lose out on the Champions League.

Earlier, Wolves announced the signing of Montenegro goalkeeper Matija Sarkic on a three-year deal.

Sarkic left Aston Villa earlier in the summer on loan at Scottish Premiership side Livingston having spent the first half of this season.

The 23-year-old, who was born in England and raised in Belgium, has made 18 appearances in all competitions for Livingston.
