Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann believes Leon Goretzka will sign a new contract with the club. The German international is on the Manchester United shortlist of midfielders along with Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga and Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez. There have been reports that Manchester United have been named just so he can get a better deal at Bayern Munich. He has entered into the final year of his contract.

“I stay out of these issues. Of course, I have talked to him about my plans for him.” Julian Nagelsmann said about Leon Goretzka. “I’ve told him I’d be happy if he extended and I’m also confident. There are several topics involved when it comes to discussing a contract extension.”

“I’ll continue to focus on the sports side of things and show him he can be one of the most dangerous midfielders in Europe. He has potential to get even better,” he added.

Bayern Munich were beaten 3-0 by Napoli in a friendly. Nagelsmann put out a strong lineup with the match goalless at halftime. He brought on a number of fringe players for the starters and the Germans could not handle the Italians. Serge Gnabry in particular made his feelings known after the game.

“Of course, we’re a bit frustrated. You always go out looking to win games. It’s now about training certain processes together. We haven’t been able to do that often yet. Then everything will come together,” Gnabry said. “We’ve barely had a week together. It’s obvious things aren’t quite working yet. That’s why we need some time and more games, then we’ll find ourselves again.”
