According to reports in France Liverpool is ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Jadon Sancho. The Borussia Dortmund winger is one of the priority goals for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before the forthcoming transfer window. If he wishes to leave this summer, Dortmund won’t stand in the way of Sancho, but the Bundesliga club is seeking more than € 100 million (£89.8 m) for the 20-year-old.
Meanwhile, Liverpool was in favor of signing Timo Werner before Chelsea stepped up their search and negotiated last week with the striker from RB Leipzig.
The leaders of the Premier League were unwilling to spend around £52 m to sign Werner, who had discussed a potential move to Anfield with Jurgen Klopp. But Liverpool is now in pole position to land Sancho ahead of United according to Le10 Sport.
However, the report claims that any move depends on whether Sadio Mane leaves this summer as Klopp has identified Sancho as his Senegal international first-choice replacement. Mane was strongly connected with a move to Real Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane a huge forward admirer who scored 18 goals this season for Liverpool.
The article also says that Klopp targeted Kylian Mbappe and even spoke to the striker from Paris Saint-Germain, but the manager from Liverpool has turned his attention to signing Sancho instead.
