Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that his team’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season remain slim.
The reigning Premier League champions have slipped to sixth position on the table this season. They are only five points clear of the top four and face teams who have regained their groove at the right time.
Liverpool can still mount a comeback, but with six losses in their last eight Premier League games, Klopp is worried that his side has given itself too much to do in the fight for Champions League qualification.
Klopp told Bild, “I want to be hopeful, but in the league, qualifying for the Champions League positions that we have is almost difficult. At Tottenham, Gareth Bale is back in action, and they are still in contention. Chelsea is on the rise, as are (Manchester) City and United. We know that qualifying for the Champions League via the league would be difficult.”
