Roberto Carlos believes that Luke Shaw has all the skills to get to the top. He revealed that he has been very impressed with the left-back during Euro 2020 and has even nicknamed him ‘Shawberto Carlos’. Shaw enjoyed his best season in a Manchester United shirt during the 2020/21 Premier League season. In the semi-final against Ukraine, Shaw provided the assist for Harry Kane and Harry Maguire.

“You can see he’s very motivated,” Roberto Carlos said talking about Luke Shaw. “He’s really improving, his performance against Ukraine was very good. He’s been an important part of this English team, along with all the others. He’s been improving each game and I think he’s got everything to get to the top. He’s the left-back for England, that in itself says a lot.”

“It’s two completely different periods in football. I had my time and now he’s having his. Similarities I think could be that he has strength and the desire to win, just like I did.” he added when asked if he saw similarities between Shaw and himself.

Roberto Carlos will be joining Shaw in a few months after signing up to play in the Soccer Aid for UNICEF. The match will take place at the Etihad stadium. All the proceeds from the match will go towards providing vaccination to 2 billion people all over the world.

“I’m always excited to play in Soccer Aid for UNICEF. It’s great to see everyone, we have a good time and it’s for a good cause, which makes it even better,” he added.
