After posting a convincing 2-0 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach on Wednesday, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola called on his charges to brush up on their finishing.
Throughout the last-16 clash in the Champions League, the Premier League leaders were in charge, scoring in each half through Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva to take clear advantage of the tie.
Guardiola, however, thinks that with more accuracy in front of the goal, the scoreline might have been much more relaxed.
“Generally speaking, we played very well. With the acts – the one against those with the keeper, with the defender – we were not clinical enough upfront. In this competition, we have to be more clinical, you have to be stronger after the final whistle, he told reporters.
“But no concerns in general. I know how physical they are and how well-organized. They’re playing with a diamond, they’re putting a lot of players inside with Stingl, they’re playing with Neuhaus, they’re playing with Hoffman, and a player is running in behind her to defend a bigger area.
“It was a fun game. Today, Kyle Walker was outstanding. The game he played was nice, the first move and several weeks before the second leg and now he’s only thinking about rehabilitation for the game.

“We don’t have a wide margin in this competition. They’ll have one against one of the acts, or two against three again. You have to at least finish the action in our place, make Sommer, the keeper, make a save and we didn’t do it.
“In the final third, we produced a lot of chances to get there. The mechanism was fine. We have dedicated central defenders in that position to meet the wingers and we have to finish better.

“And you’ve got to improve in this competition. But it was just that it didn’t happen today, that it would be another player another day. In this game, they have to know that, because we can still lose points in the Premier League, but you have a margin. You don’t have a chance in this competition.’
