Pep Guardiola revealed that it is highly unlikely that Manchester City will be able to sign a replacement for Sergio Aguero this season. Aguero joined Barcelona on a free transfer after his contract had expired. City have reportedly bid £100m for Harry Kane after the striker had told the club that he would like to leave this season. Manchester United and Chelsea are both interested in the services of the England captain. Guardiola believes that he will have to make do with his current squad as the demands of the other clubs are too much.

“At the prices (quoted) we are not going to buy any strikers. It is impossible, we cannot afford it,” Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said. “All clubs are struggling financially, we are not an exception. We have Gabriel (Jesus) and Ferran (Torres) who have been incredible in this position. We have young players in the academy and we play many times with a false nine.”

”There is more of a chance we aren’t going to buy a striker for next season,” he added. “We’ll do whatever we can do in the transfer window and if we can’t, we’ll still have the squad that has won the league three times in four years and reached the Champions League final.”

Kane has maintained that he is focused on Euro 2020 and no decision on his future has been made. Recently, Tottenham new managing director of football Fabio Paratici expressed his desire to keep Kane at Tottenham.
