Benfica’s midfielder agent Florentino Luis, who has earned the nickname ‘The Octopus,’ admits interest has been registered in the youth linking Manchester United and AC Milan.
Among the other leading European sides, Real Betis and Bayer Leverkusen are said to keep a close eye on the development of a highly esteemed 20-year-old.
In Portugal, Florentino has caught the eye with his skill set in a holding post seeing his stock rise significantly.
In 2018-19, a breakthrough season was enjoyed, though injuries and Julian Weigl ‘s arrival have made the current campaign a little more tricky.
However, a player with considerable promise remains highly regarded and some sides will welcome the chance to add his talent to their respective ranks.
United are among those who say they ‘re mulling over a formal approach ahead of the next transfer window, but they’re going to be far from the mix’s only side.
Bruno Carvalho Santos, Florentino ‘s agent, told ESPN FC of the mounting excitement his client is generating: “Florentino is one of Europe’s highest-rated young defensive midfielders, and there is a lot of interest in him right now.
“A lot of talks have been going on about Milan, but I can tell you there’s a lot of competition for his services, with clubs in England, Germany, and Spain also closely following him.”
However, an attractive offer from afar could draw them into the negotiating table.
It was suggested that a loan switch for Florentino could be sanctioned which includes an option for the club taking a calculated gamble to push through a permanent transfer at a later date.
