Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that the club is determined to keep Jesse Lingard long-term at club. His contract expires at the end of this season and will be allowed to have talks with clubs abroad in January. Lingard is a United academy product that spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham. He will return to the London Stadium when Manchester United visit on the weekend.
“He’s got this season left of his contract and the club is talking to him and his dad, and we see him as a Man United player in the future as well.” Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said about Jesse Lingard. “Jesse has come back to us after a great spell at West Ham. He showed his qualities, he’s got back into the England squad and he’s scoring goals for England. We really want to see the best of Jesse this season and we hope to see him. We support him, and we hope to keep him here with us. He’s a Red through and through.”
Meanwhile, Edinson Cavani is not yet match fit and is expected back next weekend or even a little earlier for their EFL Cup game.
“Edinson hopefully will start training with us after the weekend,” Solskjaer said. “Hopefully, maybe Monday. Maybe he’ll be involved on Wednesday because he had a fantastic season last season. The impact he made towards the end of it when he got his fitness… because he struggled early on with fitness, he struggled with niggles.”
