Italy CT Roberto Mancini has praised Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi and expects his Azzurri stars to prepare strongly for Euro 2020 next year.
The European Championship was postponed due to the global pandemic and Mancini claimed that Italy is facing a tough challenge in the group, including Switzerland, Turkey, and Wales next summer.
“All of us were ready for it. Everything was put in place. That would not have been an easy party, as others say, and not in a year.
Traditionally, Switzerland has been difficult for us, they have top quality players in the club and a strong coach like Vladimir Petkovic who knows us well. But we’re still set to the next European Championship,” Mancini told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
Mancini is pleased to see some of his stars gain valuable experience in a big game ahead of tonight’s Coppa Italia Final, and Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi are two of the Italy internationals who clash this evening.
“Insigne has always represented the national squad well. He has found love and confidence with Gattuso. He’s the spirit. Napoli gives him a tactical approach very similar to the one he’s had with us and it helps him. Bernardeschi has always served us well. He ‘s fast, he’s a good technique and he can play right or left. A lot depends on him too. He needs to do his best to develop himself at Juventus and play regularly,” Mancini said to captain Partenopei.
Mancini encourages the younger players to get top-level chances, saying that playing in the Champions League strengthened Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who moved to Napoli last summer.
