The 34-year-old Croatian wore the Juventus jersey from 2015 to 2020, but with his Italian, he feels a little rusty, so he preferred to give the Milan TV interview in his native language.
“There are different reasons why I have chosen Milan. It’s a historic club and it fulfills my goals. Both of us know what Milan stands for.
Lately, I have been working hard to get a call from an important club like Milan. Recently, I have practiced a lot and those close to me know how much work I have put in to make sure I’m ready to compete for trophies, so Milan doesn’t need to worry about my level of fitness.
For some of the former Mandzukic teammates, Milanello also marks a reunion.
I’m glad that Simon Kjaer, as I’ve known him since Wolfsburg, is here, and we had a nice time there. With his results, he has proven that he is a cornerstone of Milan.”
“A few days ago, I called Ante Rebic and told him I was coming.”
Mandzukic will be Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s understudy, but there’s no reason why they can’t play together either.
“Since I was very young, I’ve been watching Zlatan’s success and am glad to finally be on the same team as him. Both of us are hungry for results.
On the pitch, he’s always a beast, and I’m going to try to be the same. Together, I think we will do very well.”
Milan is top of the table in Serie A and the title of Winter Champion needs only one point to be guaranteed.
“A club such as Milan always has huge aspirations and expectations. I’m used to it, so that’s no problem, and that’s why we play football. I’m here and I will give Milan my best.
This is a special club. All you have to do is tell Milan and everybody knows what you are talking about. The history of Milan is amazing. The great champions played here. Milan fascinates the whole world and I can’t wait to get started.
My message is always the same to the fans: I’m going to give my best. I’m going to try and protect the colors of Milan in every game, I can assure you 100% of that.”
