Emiliano Martinez thinks that his move from Arsenal to Aston Villa was a “step-up” as he continues to shine with his new club.

In September, for a record of £ 20 million, Martinez joined Villa from Arsenal.

Martinez said the move was a step up in his career after holding a clean sheet when Villa shocked his former club 3-0 in the Premier League on Sunday.

I trusted the ambitions of the club when I wanted to come to Villa because I trusted the ambitions of the manager, and I knew how big Villa is. People don’t know how big Aston Villa is, “he told reporters.” It was because I trusted the ambitions of the manager.

In my profession, they all thought that it was a step-down and I always said that it was a step up for my career.

“Hopefully we’ll have a very good season, we’ll keep fighting for every game, every ball, and hopefully we’re in the top 10 of the table.”

Villa is sixth in the Premier League table, three points behind the Leicester City champions, holding a game in hand.

No goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets than Martinez (four), while for most of the league, his 22 saves ranks sixth.

Martinez also has a 71 save percentage, which is equivalent to Leicester City star Kasper Schmeichel and only Karl Darlow (74) with at least 20 saves behind goalkeepers.

And the 28-year-old is hoping that Villa will draw on the season’s strong start.

“I’ve said since day one that my dream is to be with Aston Villa in Europe,” Martinez said.

“I would like to take this club as far as I can and we are on the right road.”

On November 21, Villa will host Brighton and Hove Albion after the international break.
