According to former Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini, who says the Juventus star should seek a move in January, Paulo Dybala is the new Lionel Messi and he should join Real Madrid.
With his current contract at the Allianz Stadium set to expire in 2022, Dybala’s future at Juve has been the subject of much speculation in recent months.
The sporting director of Bianconeri, Fabio Paratici, has insisted that the Argentine is in line for a new contract, but he appears to be connected with a move from Turin amid reported interest from Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain.
A lack of regular minutes at the start of the season has not improved the 26-year-old ‘s status, with Andrea Pirlo only handing the midfielder three Serie A appearances to date.
Zamparini is unable to understand why a man he believes has all the instruments to follow in the footsteps of the legend of Barcelona and Argentina Messi does not start at Juve every week and has urged him to move to new pastures to unlock his full potential.
Tuttosport was told by the former Palermo chief: “I am always persuaded that he is the new Messi. Dybala is a nice person, as well as a fighter. And I can’t understand why many insiders seem to forget him.”
It is blasphemy that Dybala is not a starter in Serie A. Three years ago, Paulo ought to have taken my advice to step away from Turin.
“I told him directly, ‘Paulo, you must leave Juventus for your own sake.’ His football is fiction, either in Barcelona or Real Madrid, [and is better suited to] Spain.
“But he has always told me that at Juventus he feels fine.”
For Dybala, who joined Juve from Palermo in 2015, Zamparini went on to suggest Madrid as the perfect next destination, with his conviction that the talented playmaker needs to come out of the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo as soon as possible.
The advice I’m giving him today is the same:’ Paulo, leave Juventus and go to Real Madrid.’ Maybe as early as January. It would be a good deal for everyone,” he said. “It would be a good deal for everyone.
“For him and even for Juventus, who two summers ago already wanted to sell him. Paulo is a champion and not a deputy. There is Cristiano Ronaldo, a true phenomenon at Juventus, and Dybala has to go and play in another major team [against] Ronaldo.”
