Barcelona captain Lionel Messi said there is nothing more to say after last week’s call for ‘a lot of changes’ at Camp Nou, after a series of internal discussions following Real Madrid’s La Liga title win.
Now that this has been aired, Messi insists that the only thing that needs to happen now is that the necessary adjustments finally take place before the restart of the Champions League next month – after a delicately balanced last 16 game, Barça is tied 1-1 with Napoli.
Speaking after last Thursday’s defeat at Osasuna, Messi said Barça has become a ‘very strange team that lets its head drop too quickly’ this season.
The Ballon d’Or ‘s six-time winner also stated: “There is scope for change and we need to start dreaming about the Champions League. We just want to win this one. But we need to be self-critical, a lot of improvement and a lot of change. I hope we’ll get it all done in time.”
Now Messi is confident everything that needed to be said has been said.
“We said what we wanted to be doing. We spoke individually and we’ve been self-critical. There’s nothing left to say but to demonstrate the change,” Movistar+ told him.
