Mikel Arteta remains “confident” that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will sign a new Arsenal contract at the “right spot” with the Gabonese striker.
Quizzed again on Sky Sports’ long-running drama, when pushed about whether a deadline is in place, the Arsenal manager said: “I don’t know, setting a date right now is hard. I love the way debates run. What I am saying I appreciate. I ‘m sure the earlier we can think about issues on both sides, the better for everybody. I ‘m sure he’ll keep on staying.”
When asked where the confidence came from, Arteta added: “Fundamentally, he is satisfied. I believe he enjoys the sport of it. He ‘s happy in the country and is good to his family. As we’ve told him, I believe he can say how much we want him, how much we love him. I believe he has a great bond with the fans. I think he’s in the right spot.”All that I have from him and the people around him is the same and I have no reason to say anything else.”
