Nabil Fekir scored on a brilliant solo effort to help Real Betis defeat Levante 2-0 at home on Friday, keeping them near the top of the Spanish table.
Fekir collected the ball just inside the centerline, spun around his marker, and slalomed around three more defenders before slotting the ball between goalkeeper Aitor Fernández’s eyes.
Juan Jiménez finished off a ball Fernández had stopped inside the six-yard box to add to Fekir’s 70th-minute opener.
Following his goal, Fekir kept up the shirt of teammate Cristian Tello, who was unable to play due to his father’s death.
As he missed from near range, the French forward squandered a clear chance to score another goal late in the game.
After its fifth victory in six games, Manuel Pellegrini’s side stayed in sixth position and possession of a Europa League berth. The victory took it to level on points with fifth-placed Real Sociedad, who it hosts on Monday.
Levante, which was left in ninth place, had the best scoring chances early on, with José Morales and Jorge de Frutos both threatening Claudio Bravo’s goal.
