Benzema has scored 26 goals in 47 games this season to help Madrid retain LaLiga, even though they are in the last 16 of the Champions League.

And the FFF chairman has always been full of praise for the 32-year-old ‘s efforts this season.

“He was having an exceptional season with Real,” Le Graet said Thursday to RMC Sport.

“I’ve already thanked [Zinedine] Zidane who is his mentor. Now, he’s one of the best players in the season he’s just done. The best? It’s not up to me to judge because I haven’t seen all the games but he’s had the best season of his career in my opinion.”
