Agent Mino Raiola of Erling Haaland says the Norwegian star chose his move to Borussia Dortmund over a transfer to Juventus because the Series A champions “would have placed him in the Under-23 squad.”

In January Haaland made the move to Dortmund after breaking through as a star in the Champions League with RB Salzburg.

International Norway scored 28 goals in 22 matches in all Austrian side competitions, with eight goals coming in six matches through the group stage of the Champions League against Liverpool, Napoli, and Genk.

During his Champions League season, Haaland matched several milestones, joining Karim Benzema and being the second teenager in history to score in each of his first three appearances in the competition while also matching Alessandro Del Piero, Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski and Serhiy Rebrov in five consecutive games.

Throughout the months since, in his first game for the club, Haaland has continued to break a record with the forward scoring a 23-minute hat-trick off the bench.

In his second start, he scored two more as he became the first player to score five goals in his first two Bundesliga matches while becoming the fastest player ever to score five goals with a 56-minute blitz.

Yet, if Juventus made a better offer, Haaland ‘s rise to Bundesliga dominance may never have come to fruition, Raiola says.

“Why Haaland didn’t transfer to Juventus? They ‘d have included him in the Under-23 squad,” Raiola told La Repubblica, an Italian outlet.

The striker helped kick off the Bundesliga return this past weekend, scoring Schalke’s first goal of Dortmund’s 4-0 victory to become the first man to find the netback as the league resumed after a coronavirus suspension.

At present, Dortmund is sitting second in the table, four points behind Bayern Munich’s table leaders.
