Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to see Paul Pogba’s leadership when he comes back to action.

As a result of an ankle injury, the midfielder has played eight times for his club this season but is eager to play again after speeding up his recovery during the three-month break of football.

United traveling to Tottenham on Friday night could make his first appearance since Boxing Day, and Pogba, whose future is still the subject of speculation.

He’s been training and fans could see him playing with Bruno Fernandes signing in January who’s hit the ground running or Scott McTominay, one of the best players this season at the club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to see Paul Pogba's leadership

“Of course I want the same from Paul as from all the others that we ‘re giving our best and Paul is one of the world’s best midfielders. So naturally, we expect him to progressively improve as he gets more and more game time. I don’t know if this time it’s 45 minutes, it’s 60, so we can gradually work him up to his best over the next few months because Paul’s had a very, very good career, “said Solskjaer.

It’s been a year since Pogba expressed his desire for a new challenge, but he remains at Old Trafford, and persuading United to sell him will take something special.

In June 2019, speaking to reporters in Tokyo, he said: “For me, I’ve been in Manchester for three years and have been doing great things-some good moments and some bad moments, like everyone else. Like anywhere else.”

At the club now there is a new atmosphere as United strives to finish in the top four.

They are three points behind fourth-place Chelsea ahead of the Tottenham game, while Leicester also remains in their sights.

And Fernandes, who contributed to the change in attitude, can’t wait to get his teammate back. “I think everyone is happy to see Paul Pogba play again after his long injury,” he said.
