Agent of Mesut Ozil says the midfielder wants to completely see the remainder of his new contract with Arsenal. The German star originally agreed to sign his new contract in January 2018 making him the club’s best-paid player. His agreement is due to end after the season 2020-21 and Ozil has been linked with the contract running down a step away from the Emirates.
The midfielder was also linked to the Chinese Inter, AC Milan, and clubs. But his agent says Ozil has no intention of leaving, as he will remain at Arsenal in the final year to complete his existing £350,000 per week ($430,000) contract. “Mesut has a one year deal. This won’t change,” agent Erkut Sogut said to beIN Sports. “That’s what’s coming next, time will show.
Mesut will be 32 and will have a few more years of his career. “Mesut and his family must make a decision. I can’t talk about Mesut and Fenerbahce because I don’t have permission to comment on this topic in keeping with the principle of confidentiality.”Ozil has played 23 times in all of this season’s Gunners competitions, but he scored only once while giving three assists.
Originally joining Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013, the 32-year-old midfielder has gone on to make 254 appearances for the Gunners since that transfer.
Arsenal team-mate Bernd Leno of the midfielder recently confirmed his conviction that Ozil remains vital to the squad, adding that viewers sometimes underestimate the “incredible” potential of the midfielder.
Arsenal ranks ninth in the Premier League, one point behind Tottenham ‘s opponent, who sits eighth.
A World Cup winner with Germany in 2014, Ozil has also won four Arsenal trophies, including three FA Cup triumphs to go with one Community Shield between 2014 and 2017.
