Without seven first-team players, Paris Saint-Germain faces Lens, and coach Thomas Tuchel has confirmed his side will find things difficult.
Thomas Tuchel expects a “very tough” match against Lens at the Paris Saint-Germain Ligue 1 opener after several players have tested positive for coronavirus.
The reigning PSG champions are without seven players for Thursday’s clash at the Stade Bollaert-Dellis, with Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Angel Di Maria among their absentees.
Champions League finalists have had less than three weeks off since their season ended in 2019-20 and Tuchel acknowledges it will take time for him to find their groove.
“To start with a really difficult match in Lens, it’s a little strange,” he said at his pre-match news conference, Washington Post says.
“We normally have a planning phase with friendly matches following a final. But it’s going to be hard starting with a Ligue 1 match in Lens. For me, we mustn’t demand too much. We’re going to give everything, but we’re going to be respectful too. We are searching for solutions. The situation with seven players affected by COVID-19 is more complicated but we have confidence.”
