Barcelona has named Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz as its Plan B, according to Mundo Deportivo, should they struggle to secure Miralem Pjanic this summer.
For a long time, the Bosnian midfielder was on Barca’s agenda. Nevertheless, there is still no breakthrough in the Juventus negotiations. The Catalans want the Bianconeri to get a swap contract.
Arthur was thought to be the main candidate to be traded but the Brazilian is strongly opposed to leaving Barca.
As for Fabian Ruiz, he has also been on the radar at Barca for several months now. There were talks between the clubs, the source adds until the Catalans turned their attention to Pjanic.
Mundo Deportivo reported earlier this month that for the Spanish midfielder, Napoli is asking for €60 million.
Quique Setien is said to be enthusiastic about the possibility too.
The manager at Real Betis worked with Ruiz where he gave him a prominent role before switching to Naples in 2018.
The Spaniard currently ranks among Europe’s best-rising midfielders. The 24-year-old has bagged three goals so far this season, and two assists for Napoli in 32 games.
He is assumed to be in favor of the Blaugrana step as with Pjanic.
The 30-year-old has scored three goals this season and has provided four assists in 32 games. He is a popular taker of free kicks.
The export market is worth €52million for the Bosnian.
