Paris Saint-sporting Germain’s director has said that negotiations over a new contract for Kylian Mbappe must conclude soon. Paris Saint-Germain is getting close to a decision on Kylian Mbappe’s new contract, sports director Leonardo has disclosed to the club.

When the current season comes to an end, the Frenchman, who has scored 90 goals in just 100 PSG appearances since arriving from Monaco in 2017, will be one year away from the expiry of his deal.

As such, to prevent losing Mbappe for free, PSG will need to approve a move this close-season if new terms cannot be negotiated.

Leonardo, however, remains relaxed about the ongoing negotiations, even though he acknowledges that it would be important to conclude prematurely.

“We have been talking for a long time about Kylian Mbappe’s deal,” the Brazilian told France Bleu.

Before, our stance and what we want had to be predominantly clear. There, I think we are coming to the point where a place and a decision have to be made.

“We’ve got a good dialogue opening up.”

Like Mbappe, Neymar has also been out for less than 18 months after his contract with the French champions expired.

On that front, too, Leonardo is willing to pursue a settlement and hopes to find an agreement on new terms with Angel Di Maria and Juan Bernat.

He also added: “It’s on the right track, Neymar, but in the end, after the signing, he decides and it’s not the case yet.

“I think we’re arriving at the right time, the same for Di Maria and Bernat. The four problems we are debating are these.

“The idea is to get there as soon as possible because we have the intention of renewing all four on our side.”

In seven of the last eight seasons, PSG is currently in the third position in Ligue 1, four points off the pace set by Lille’s leaders and a point behind Lyon’s second place.
