With great confidence, RB Leipzig advanced to the quarter-finals of the German Cup. In the 1/8 final, VfL Wolfsburg and Borussia Moenchengladbach also won their matches.
RB Leipzig played against VfL Bochum in the first match of the 1/8 final of the German Cup.
The hosts were the favorites and dominated from the beginning of this meeting. Then Amadou Haidara scored into the net in the eleventh minute. The score was raised by Marcel Sabitzer just before the break, using a penalty kick.
The picture of the game did not change after the change of sides. In the 66th minute, Yussuf Poulsen scored. Nine minutes later, the same player scored and RB Leipzig won 4-0.
VfL Wolfsburg competed against Schalke 04 in the second duel. The hosts got a penalty kick in the 40th minute. The eleven were missed by Wout Weghorst, but a minute later he went into the net. No more goals were reached and the hosts won 1:0.0.
VfB Stuttgart played Borussia Moenchengladbach in the match at 20:30. After Silas Wamangituka’s goal, the hosts were already in the lead in the 2nd minute.
Marcus Thuram equalized just before the break. Alassane Plea scored the decisive goal in the 50th minute and it was Borussia who won 2:1, giving them progress towards the quarterfinals.
After a penalty shootout, Regensburg beat FC Koeln in the last game. After 120 minutes, the game was tied 2:2 and the hosts won the penalty shootout 4-3.
