Captain Yussuf Poulsen was confirmed by RB Leipzig to have sustained ligament damage in his right ankle that will keep him out of action. Poulsen sustained the injury in the opening 20 minutes of Sunday’s 5-0 Mainz rout before going on to score one goal and set two more.
“During the match against Mainz 05 our forward Yussuf Poulsen sustained a ligament injury in his right ankle,” a statement read on the club’s official website.
“He’ll be sidelined until further notice, which was the result of a Monday scan.”
Leipzig moved up to third with his victory against Mainz but Nagelsmann anticipates a tough contest against in-form Hertha, which has won two out of two since the appointment of Bruno Labbadia in April.
“It’s hard to predict anything about Hertha as it’s just their third game under Bruno Labbadia,” Nagelsmann said at a news conference on Monday.
“They ‘re probably going to sit back and play on the break. Vedad Ibisevic is the perfect player for that. “I’m happy to see Bruno back in the Bundesliga with his passion. He’s helped strengthen the organization in such a short time. But, tomorrow we want to end Hertha’s run and build on our Mainz results.’
