Rio Ferdinand has stated that he prefers Frank Lampard to Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard. The Englishman claims the Chelsea legend has a better chance of scoring goals and would like to have him on his side.

Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes, and Steven Gerrard were all part of England’s midfield at their prime, and the argument about who is the best among them has never stopped.

The argument among fans continues to this day, with most taking sides depending on the clubs the players served throughout their careers.

Rio Ferdinand sided with Frank Lampard while speaking on his YouTube page, Vibe with Five. For the goals and assists he gets, the Red Devils legend said he will choose the former Chelsea man over Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard.

He said:
“If I’m a manager I take Frank because he’s going to get me 20 (goals) a year. As a manager I want them to define matches, he’s going to get me 20 and probably double-figures in assists.”

Paul Scholes was a Manchester United teammate of Rio Ferdinand, and everyone wanted the iconic defender to help his former teammate. Rio, on the other hand, explained why he ignored Scholes, saying:

“Scholesy was a joke to play with man. I played with him when he played just in front of me and he just conducted the game. When I first went to United when he played off Ruud van Nistelrooy and he was unplayable, I think he scored 20 odd goals that season. An unbelievable talent, all around.

Rio Ferdinand explained why he passed over Steven Gerrard, saying he wasn’t sure whether the Liverpool hero would have had the same effect if his side had been as good as Chelsea or Manchester United.
