Rio Ferdinand has indicated to The Daily Mail that central defender John Stones from Manchester City will be joining West Ham United in the summer transfer window.
The former central defender of Manchester United and West Ham-who now works as a pundit for BT Sport-claims that leaving City for the Hammers will be a step-down for Stones.
Nevertheless, according to Ferdinand, a move to the London Stadium will increase the chances of playing for England at next summer’s European Championship for the former Everton central defender.
The Sun confirmed West Ham ‘s interest in City center-back Stones last month
Ferdinand told The Daily Mail: “He ‘s got to look closely at himself and his condition. With next year’s Euros coming up, he has a big decision to make. I don’t think it’s a huge decision to leave, really – it’s just the right decision. He can’t live at City if he wants to be a top center-half and play for England again. David Knows him, Moyes. From a club point of view, it would be a huge decrease in expectation, but often needs have to.
“Where would he go and get a game? He needs to focus on that. He needs to be watching football. He hasn’t consecutively played consistent football for how long now?”
