Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has contacted Kai Havertz directly regarding a move to Stamford Bridge to get the phenomenon of Bayer Leverkusen. The Blues face several player competitors who took the Bundesliga by storm after the start of last month.
Chelsea is seeking to further reinforce Frank Lampard’s offensive options and has caught an eye on Havertz. The Leverkusen star has scored five goals since the Bundesliga campaign restarted play last month.
According to Sport Buzzer, Abramovich is eager to bring Havertz to Stamford Bridge and has got in contact with the 23-year-old to suggest the move to him.
The Russian billionaire is said to be able to offer Leverkusen’s asking price of €100 m ( £ 90 m), but by selling N’Golo Kante and Jorginho will try to recover the money.
However, the involvement of Abramovich would do the trick is doubtful, with Havertz reportedly prefer a move to La Liga.
Leverkusen manager Fernando Carro has confirmed that Havertz is looking to his future.
Carro said, “A certain number of clubs are interested in him. I see a player’s wish to take the next move sometime in the immediate future.”
