Romelu Lukaku revealed that he would like to stay at Inter Milan in spite of attracting interest from the Premier League. The Belgian has been in scintillating form this season. Inter Milan ended Juventus’ nine year domestic win streak. He scored 24 goals in 36 appearances with his performances winning him the league’s MVP award. He has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League with Chelsea and Manchester City.
“Yes, I am staying,” Romelu Lukaku said about staying at Inter Milan. “I’ve already had contact with the man who normally becomes our new manager. Maybe I shouldn’t say that yet… but it was a very positive conversation. There’s also the challenge of doing it again [winning the league with Inter]. I feel good at Inter.”
Lukaku is valued at £100m by Inter and sources have said they would like to cash in on their high profile players. This was one of the reasons why Antonio Conte decided to part ways with the club. Conte was told that Inter needed a €100m budget cut next season. Simone Inzaghi has been named as Conte’s successor for next season. Sky Italia have reported that Achraf Hakimi remains the most likely to leave the club next season. He is valued at £70m and is the chief target of Paris Saint-Germain.
Lukaku joined the Premier League in 2011 with Chelsea before he was loaned out to West Brom and then Everton. He enjoyed a successful spell at Everton, scoring 53 goals across three seasons at Goodison Park. This record earned him a £75m move to Old Trafford in 2017. After two disastrous seasons with United, Lukaku moved to Inter Milan. He has scored 64 goals during his two seasons at the club.
