Sister Elma Aveiro of Cristiano Ronaldo aimed at Maurizio Sarri after Juventus lost the penalty finals of Coppa Italia against Napoli.
After a goalless 90 minutes in which Sarri ‘s men struggled to carve out any clear chances, Gennaro Gattuso ‘s side triumphed, while Napoli was unlucky not to score a winner late in the game.
The defeat was the first time Ronaldo has ever lost successive finals in his career, with Luca Toni criticizing Portugal forward for his performance.
However, Elma has leaped to the defense of her brother on social media as she slammed the tactics of Sarri and pleaded for the Juventus teammates of Ronaldo to step up.
“What more can you do? My love, you can not perform miracles alone. I don’t understand how you can play like that. You can’t do it anymore, hold your head up anyway,” she wrote on Instagram.
After arriving in Turin Sarri is no stranger to criticism of his style of play and revealed last year that he often felt like he was made out to be a terrorist.
“I was defined as a Taliban because I always wanted to play my football, now that’s not good enough because I’m adapting to my players’ different characteristics,” Sarri said.
Following the loss of Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final, Juventus will begin their Serie A campaign with another league title in their sights on Monday.
Sarri ‘s side, after 26 games, is one point clear of Lazio and return to the league action against Bologna.
Before the pandemic coronavirus stopping football in Italy, Juventus claimed a crucial 2-0 win over Inter, who is now third in Series A and the league leaders’ nine points shy.
Sarri conceded his side has yet to display their best since the enforced break since failing to score against Napoli midweek.
