During the Inter Milan finals on Friday night, Seville star Ever Banega taunted Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte on his face, in an altercation that led the Italian boss to earn a yellow card.
The pair were engaged in a scuffle during the first half of the final in Cologne which the Spanish side won 3-2 thanks to a goal owned by Romelu Lukaku.
According to Sky Sports Italia, Banega met Conte and mocked him saying: ‘Let’s see if the wig is authentic.’
The Italian boss replied: ‘I’m going to see you after the game,’ and referee Danny Makkelie booked Conte for this comment during the intense match.
Banega is a Seville talisman who has represented the club nearly 250 times over two spells as of 2014.
The Argentinean has been associated with controversy throughout his career. Until joining Valencia he was embroiled in an internet sex scandal during dance after Argentina won the Under-20 World Cup in 2009.
He has also allegedly turned up drunk for a big game against Barcelona for an important training session in 2012.
Conte, meanwhile, is notorious for his crazy touchline antics, which stuck with him between 2016 and 2018 when he was Chelsea boss for two years.
It was Inter Milan which took the lead in Cologne, thanks to Romelu Lukaku’s early penalty. But Sevilla reacted thanks to two headers from Luuk De Jong that turned the game on its head.
Inter defender Diego Godin replied with a quick-fire header after Sevilla took the lead but Lukaku’s late blunder settled the match with just under 20 minutes to play.
Sevilla has won the Europa League for the sixth time in their history, having won it three years in a row between 2014 and 2017.
