The first leg of the Europa League 1/16 final against Real Sociedad was summed up by Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (4-0).

“Some wonderful goals were scored and we played well. We were capable of winning, but maybe not four goals,” Solskjaer told BT Sport.

“When we are granted free space, we can be a very dangerous team. We defended well, put some great players on the offensive – and thus won the right to have fast counterattacks. They opened up and we found the rooms that we wanted.

In one way or another, every team targets you. It is necessary to be able to identify [and counterattack] free zones. We are still learning, it’s a work in progress, so we haven’t managed to win every game recently.”
