Manchester United director Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has announced that club officials will sit down for negotiations on extending his contract with veteran striker Edinson Cavani, with the manager saying that he is ‘very pleased’ with the player’s impact so far.
Cavani may have been a late panic signing on transfer deadline day in October, but the former Paris Saint-Germain star has proved to be a fantastic addition to the youthful United squad.
When Cavani entered in October as a free agent, it was until the end of the season on a deal with the promise of another year. If the player is pleased, United seems to be increasingly prepared to trigger it.
“I can only say Edinson has done well for us, I’ve been impressed with him and he’s gelled well with the group,” Solskjaer is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
We will sit down with him and, of course, talk to him shortly to see his plans and our plans. You still refer to your players and we’re very happy with what he did with his contract situation.
