The superb solo goal by Son Heung-Min against Burnley won the Puskas Award at the FIFA Football Awards on Thursday night.
The Tottenham winger picked up the ball within his half during a 5-0 win over Sean Dyche’s Clarets last December and beat multiple Burnley defenders in a mazy run before ending up cool in the penalty area. And for its excellence, Son’s wonderful strike has been rewarded as it was named as the best goal of the past 12 months by FIFA.
This is the third time that the Puskas Award has been given to a Premier League goal. Olivier Giroud won the first back in 2017 for his Arsenal scorpion kick goal against Crystal Palace, while Mohamed Salah won the 2018 award for Liverpool against Everton.
