Stefano Pioli is looking forward to the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but Milan’s coach was satisfied with the success of Rafael Leao against Sassuolo. After just six seconds, Leao scored the quickest goal in Serie A history as Milan recorded a 2-1 victory over Sassuolo on Sunday (December 20).
After back-to-back draws, Milan returned to winning ways, and they are a point ahead of rivals Inter atop the standings. Since the end of November, the striker, who has scored 11 goals this season, has managed to remain unbeaten in Serie A through 13 games despite being without Ibrahimovic, set to miss another month after suffering a calf injury in training.
Pioli is eager to welcome Ibrahimovic back, considering his side’s shape without the 39-year-old star.
“First of all, we are a stronger team with Ibra. He is a champion and the team has strengthened in many ways with him. Thanks to his work many players have improved their performances. I hope he can come back as soon as possible because we need him and with him, we are a better team.”
Leao, 21, in each of the past three seasons, is the youngest player with three-plus goals in the top five European leagues.
