Swansea City and Sheffield United played out a goalless draw in their Championship meeting in Wales. Swansea City dominated the game while Sheffield were restricted to rare counterattacks. The Swans could not create many chances with Sheffield’s united keeper restricted to just one save in the game. The match is further proof that Swansea needs to secure a striker in the transfer window if they were to harbor any hopes of a Premier League return.
Flynn Downes made his debut for Swansea while Rhian Brewster once again started up front for Sheffield united. Swansea had much of the possession in the first half but their keeper also was the busier of the two shot-stoppers. Jamal Lowe was through on goal but his joy was short-lived when the assistant’s flag was raised.
Swansea boss Russell Martin: “I think there were a lot of positives to take. The players played the way we want and we had control.” he added after Swansea and Sheffield united shared a goalless draw. ”We lacked the fitness to do it for 90 minutes and didn’t have as much as we would have liked in the final third, but the players are doing brilliantly. We played a top team full of Premier League experience who will be there or thereabouts at the end of the season.”
Sheffield United manager Slavisa Jokanovic: “The result can be seen as a positive. If we can’t score a goal, the best thing we can do is get one point.” he added. “Of course, we can play better than we are right now. We can be more dangerous and create more chances. I’m sure we can improve for the next game. I feel a little bit of a lack of energy in the team.”
